Conventions in TrueState are organisation-wide guidelines that help standardize how data, pipelines, dashboards, and reports are named, formatted, and structured. By defining clear conventions—such as naming schemas (e.g., snake_case vs. CamelCase), date formats (ISO 8601), or analysis approaches (e.g., always include confidence intervals)—teams ensure that every asset created in the platform follows the same patterns. This consistency not only makes it easier for collaborators to find and understand datasets or pipeline steps, but also helps the AI assistant generate code, SQL queries, and visualisations that align with your team’s best practices.

Adding Conventions

Conventions can be viewed on the Conventions page. A new Convention can be added using the add Convention button.

Conventions AI assistance

If there is a repeated pattern in a naming scheme within a chat conversation, the bot may suggest adding a new Convention. This can be approved, modified or denied.
